Introduction to Fubarnii writing
Writing was invented towards the end of the period in which the Fubarnii were enslaved by the Devanu. Originally it was based on well-known representations of Enarii, with each picture representing the initial sound of the Enarii's name. Over time these pictures became simplified and standardised, and the rules of writing became more fixed.
Different Cultures
This alphabet is used throughout the continent of Anyaral, in the same way that Empire Fubarnii is used in spoken language, as the language of politics and trade. However there are regional variations – the Delgon, for their own internal use, have a modified alphabet (more a different “font” than any real difference to letter forms), and tend to write vertically. The Casani don't have their own alphabet system, though they may have had their own symbolic notation for their own language prior to becoming part of the Empire. Nowadays they speak both Empire Fubarnii and their own language, but write both in the Empire alphabet.
